Furnace Loop (Barons)

Furnace loop (Barons)

A Baron is a veCLAIM lock holder.

The Furnace loop

  1. Have ETH or CLAIM
  2. Lock CLAIM via Furnace → get veCLAIM (NFT)
  3. Earn 25% of every takeover (ETH royalties), proportional to your ve
  4. Collect ETH (default) or Collect & Lock (compounds into more veCLAIM)
  5. Manage time: extend or enable AutoMax to keep ve high

ve mechanics: More CLAIM locked = more ve. More time remaining = more ve. Normal locks decay as they approach expiry. AutoMax locks stay at max ve.

How to become a Baron

Step 1: Have ETH or CLAIM

Entry token default: If you hold CLAIM, it’s preselected. Otherwise ETH is preselected (Furnace swaps for you).

Step 2: Lock with Bonus

  1. Open Furnace
  2. Choose duration: 7 days – 1 year (or AutoMax)
    • Destination lock is auto-selected (Advanced lets you change it)
    • If no eligible lock exists, the app creates a new lock (min 1,000 CLAIM)
  3. Review the quote + destination summary
  4. Confirm Lock with Bonus

How royalties work

Every takeover: 25% goes to Barons pool → you accrue ETH based on your ve share.

Royalty actions:

  • Collect ETH (default): Withdraw to wallet
  • Collect & Lock (optional): Route through Furnace → more veCLAIM + bonus

Note: Baron rewards activate once total ve reaches a minimum. Early on, ETH accumulates until activation.

Managing locks

From the Locks page:

  • Total ve now (your royalty power) and % of total ve (your weight)
  • Compounding section: accrued ETH + Collect actions + auto-compound status
  • Actions: add to lock, extend, merge, enable AutoMax, list/delist

AutoMax: When ON, lock is always 1-year remaining (max ve, no decay). To unlock, disable AutoMax first (starts 1-year countdown).

Rule: Locks cannot be edited while listed on Market.

Auto-compound (optional)

Applies to Collect & Lock only.

  1. Choose duration and save (destination auto-selected; Advanced can override)
  2. Official keeper executes periodically (or trigger manually)
  3. Pauses if destination becomes ineligible (listed, expired, not owned)

Exiting the Furnace loop

Exit pathHow it works
Wait for expiryve → 0, then unlock CLAIM. Disable AutoMax first if enabled.
List on MarketLimit sell to Furnace with minClaimOut floor. See List a lock.
Sell to FurnaceInstant liquidity, protocol-quoted. See Sell to Furnace.

Invariant: The Furnace is the only counterparty. No user-to-user lock transfers.

Tips

  • Collect ETH is simple and liquid — good default
  • Collect & Lock for compounding (auto-compound available)
  • Extend early to prevent ve decay
  • Listing metrics: time remaining, minimum payout per ve, discount to principal
